This award winning musical group has established
itself as being Oklahoma's best show and dance band. Shortt Dogg specializes in playing the best of that "Old School Funk" from
high energy R&B, through the various shades of the blues, to sweet,
soulful ballads thus providing a musical repertoire that spans the generations.
Their performances include songs by artists from
Duke Ellington to the Isley Brothers, Sly & the Family Stone to Stevie Wonder. Also Al Green,
B.B. King, the GAP Band, Erykah Badu, Frankie Beverly & Maze, Mary
J. Blige, the Whispers, the Supremes, Chaka Khan, Bonnie
Raitt, Stevie Ray Vaughn and many more.
The band includes Mr. Johann Kimbro,
who is the groups' bassist and bandleader. Also featured
is Rocky Armstrong on guitar, Terry "Uncle Funky" Knighten on drums and Shawn Dawson,
who in addition to playing keyboards also provides background
vocal and writes most of the groups original material. The "star" of
the Shortt Dogg show is the very beautiful and talented Ms. Nikki
Nicole on lead vocal. Nikki is rapidly becoming Oklahoma's true soul diva,
down to earth, inspiring high princess of good musical vibrations.
In addition to performing at many
of this areas top entertainment nightspots, Shortt Dogg has also been featured at the Hard Rock Café and The New
Daisy Theatre in Memphis.
