This award winning musical group has established
itself as being Oklahoma's best show and dance band. Shortt Dogg, etc.
specializes in playing the best of that "Old School Funk" from
high energy R&B, through the various shades of the blues, to sweet,
soulful ballads thus providing a musical repertoire that spans the generations.
Their performances include songs by artists from
Duke Ellington to the Isley Brothers, Sly & the Family Stone to Stevie Wonder. Also Al Green,
B.B. King, the GAP Band, Erykah Badu, Frankie Beverly & Maze, Mary
J. Blige, the Whispers, the Supremes, Chaka Khan, Bonnie
Raitt, Stevie Ray Vaughn and many more.
The band includes Mr. Johann Kimbro,
who is the groups' bassist and bandleader. Also featured
is Rocky Armstrong on guitar, Terry "Uncle Funky" Knighten on drums and Shawn Dawson,
who in addition to playing keyboards also provides background
vocal and writes most of the groups original material. The "star" of
the Shortt Dogg, etc., show is the very beautiful and talented Ms. Nikki
Nicole on lead vocal. Nikki is rapidly becoming Oklahoma's true soul diva,
down to earth, inspiring high princess of good musical vibrations.
Nikki
is a performer who embodies the essence of dignity, strength,
love and respect in every performance. With her beautiful
yet powerful performance she mesmerizes the audience with her music and
her angelic voice. Featured on background vocals and occasionally lead
is Ms. Ckai Dawson.
Although a relative new comer to the R&B music scene, Ckai
is rapidly coming of age in the area of performance. Currently a music
and vocal major at Langston University, Ckai's raw musical talent will
astound the listeners.
Shortt Dogg, etc., has been featured in some of
Oklahoma's most prestigious venues and festivals including
the Bricktown 4th of July Festival, the Charlie Christian
Deep Deuce Jazz Festival, The Edmond Jazz and Blues Festival, and the
Oklahoma City Festival of the Arts.
In addition to performing at many
of this areas top entertainment nightspots, Shortt Dogg,
etc., has also been featured at the Hard Rock Café and The New
Daisy Theatre in Memphis.
