The Jazz Company is one of Oklahoma's premier contemporary
jazz bands. The group was formed in 1995 when Brian returned
to Oklahoma after performing with The Lawrence Welk Orchestra in Branson,
Missouri.
The Jazz Company performs a wide variety of styles
including traditional & contemporary
jazz, funk, latin, & pop music. Their music partially focuses on original
compositions by Brian Gorrell and they also perform
material by other composers as diverse as Billy Strayhorn,
Victor Young, Marcus Miller, & Pat Metheny.
To date, the group has
completed four albums and is currently composing new
music for a fifth project. Group members include Gorrell on saxophone/keyboards,
Shane Conaway on guitar, Mike Walker on drums, Johnny Nelson
on bass, and Dennis Borycki on keyboards.
